The Air District is offering incentives for Valley residents through the Burn Cleaner program. The Valley Air District recognizes the fact that a number of Valley residents wish to burn wood to heat their homes. When air quality permits this practice, the Valley Air District asks these residents to burn as cleanly as possible, and provides incentives do to so.
The Air District’s Burn Cleaner Program has incentives to upgrade a traditional fireplace with a cleaner insert or replace free-standing wood stoves with a new EPA certified, pellet or gas stove.
Valley residents interested in switching out older wood-burning devices for a cleaner model can take advantage of the District’s Burn Cleaner grants which provide $1,000 for certified wood or pellet inserts/freestanding stoves or natural gas inserts or $2,500 for eligible low-income applicants for all devices. An additional $500 is available to all applicants for the installation costs on a natural gas device. A total of up to $3,000 may be available in some instances to change out your older, dirty-burning device for something cleaner.
To participate in this program, you must live within the boundaries of the San Joaquin Valley Air District and must be upgrading to a cleaner device.
