The City of Modesto and Stanislaus County have worked closely on assessing the level of security at the City and County Government Center known as 10th Street Place. As a result of an assessment by security experts, a series of security improvements will be implemented at 10th Street Place. The goal of these changes is to better ensure safety for our employees and our visitors.
Beginning on May 26, 2017, all visitors to 10th Street Place will be scanned with hand-held metal-detecting wands by security personnel when entering the building at both the 11th Street Entrance and the Plaza Entrance. This practice will not replace the screening of visitor bags and packages. All employees are required to show their active employee badges to enter from either the plaza entrance or the 11th Street entrance.
Employee safety and the safety of our citizens are top priorities for Stanislaus County and for the City of Modesto. All 10th Street Place security changes will be reviewed regularly and adjustments made as needed to maintain the safety of staff and guests.
